Purpose: To limit excessive rescues involving weak/non swimmers in higher risk area, such as deep end, slides, and high dive.
13 & under
1. Jump into water
2. Tread water for 30 seconds
3. Transition from treading to a back float for 10 seconds
4. Then swim from wall to ladder by the right of double slides.
GREEN: The swimmer performs each skill without struggle. Which means: They can jump into water without hesitation They can tread without bobbing head under water. They can float on there back without sinking They can swim to the ladder without struggle
YELLOW: The swimmer can perform each skill, but struggles. Which means: They can jump into the water, but hesitates OR eases into the water with caution. They can tread for a couple seconds, then starts to struggle/grabs wall. They can float on there back without sinking Can swim to the ladder, but struggles to do so.
RED: The swimmer cannot swim or is a poor swimmer. Which means: They refuse to jump into water OR eases into the water with caution. They can’t tread water or can’t without bobbing up and down. They can’t float on there back or barley can. Cannot complete swim OR completes swim with extreme struggle, such as grabbing the wall.
GREEN: Can swim anywhere in the pool. Can go off of high dive and both slides.
YELLOW: Can be in shallow end ONLY(shallow & rover). Can ONLY go down double slides.
RED: Can only swim in shallow end of pool. CAN’T go on high dive and both slides or be in deep end of the pool.
